How to set up email on iOS Devices

This below steps will show you how to set up email on your iOS 8 based device. These settings will work on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

 

Requirements:

Before you start, you will need these details:

Your email address: username@example.com

Your email password.

Your POP3/IMAP and SMTP server. (This can be found at Email tab in your control panel) (example: XXXXX.readyspace.com.sg)

 

How to configure your iOS device?

1. Click on Settings.

2. Click on Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

3. Add Mail Account.

4. Choose Other.

5. Create New Account.

a. Enter your name.

b. Email: (Full email address)

c. Enter the email password.

d. Enter in the description that you like.

6. Click Next.

7. Incoming Mail Server:

a. Select IMAP.

b. Email: (Full email address)

c. Enter in the description that you like.

d. Host Name: Please refer to your control panel for the mail server.

e.Username: (full email address)

f. Password: (Input the email password)

8. Outgoing Mail Server:

a. Host Name: Please refer to your control panel for the mail server.

b. Username: (full email address)

c. Password: (Input the email password)

9. Click on Next.

10. Click on Continue if you see the warning: Cannot verify server identity. This is due to the SSL being used for the mail server.

 

 

How to update SMTP settings for your email account?

1. Click on Settings.

2. Click on Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

3. Click on the email account that you need to update the SMTP settings for.

4. Once you are at email information, click on the outgoing mail server.

5. You should be able to see a list of primary and other SMTP servers.

6. Click on the Primary Server.

7. Settings for the Primary Outgoing mail server.

    a. SSL is OFF.

    b. Authentication is set to Password

    c. Outgoing or Server port is 587.

8. Click on Done.
